2003 EVENTS
- December 11, 2003: Several members of UF SFB travelled to
Alachua, FL to tour the Sid Martin Biotech Incubator and REgenreation
Technologies facilities.
- November 2003: SFB sponsored their 2nd Thanksgiving Canned
Food Drive. This drive was done with the collaboration of the
Materials Research Society UF student chapter. All of the collected
food items were donated to to St. Francis House and the Salvation
Army.
- March 6, 2003: UF SFB had the opportunity to teach four enrichment
labs at the Kimball Wiles Elementary School for the entire 5th
Grade Class. The SFB members that participated were Samesha
Barnes, Iris Enriquez, Shema Freeman, Brian Hatcher, Margaret
Kayo, Adam Reboul, Daniel Urbaniak, and Amanda York. A special
thanks to Miss Sarah Sweeny at the UF College of Education and
Mrs. Siorek at Kimball Wiles.
- February 20, 2003: The Engineering Extravaganza was hosted
by the Benton Engineering Council. Several members of the Engineering
and Science Fair committee took time out of their busy schedules
to work the events. Great job!! to Iris Enriquez for an excellent
schedule of events on this day! And, of course, THANKS!!! to
both Amanda York and Iris Enriquez (both are UF SFB members,
Amanda is our Chapter President) for working really hard making
popcorn and cotton candy for the College of Engineering!!!
- Febuary 18 & 19, 2003: Several UF SFB members and many other
student organizations work together to host the Alachua County
Science Fair including demonstration booths hosted by each organization
at the Engineering and Science Fair
- February 17, 2003: Shema Freeman (UF SFB member, Student Senate
member, Benton Engineering Council Engineering Fair Director,
graduate student) initiates the opening ceremony for Engineer's
Week with speeches from Dean Khargonekar, Dean Earl, and the
Mayor. The evening ended with an E-Fair banquet featuring keynote
speaker Dr. Moudgil.
- February 16, 2003: SFB participated in the Engineering Field
Day hosted by the Benton Engineering Council. However, the event
was rained out... so we just played in the rain!
